- There’s a place where life and death exist side by side, and it’s nothing like you’d expect. In Hong Seng Estate, ancestral tombs aren’t hidden away-they’re part of daily life. Families live beside them, children grow up playing around them, and doors open for descendants to return and pay respects during the Qing Ming Festival.
What may seem unsettling to outsiders is a way of life rooted in belonging and acceptance. Tradition, respect, and connection shape a unique perspective on life and death, where fear has no place, and legacy lives on.

Never knew such exists in Malaysia. Would want to know how they end up living next to the tombs. There are similar situations in the Philippines where squatters live in / with tombs but in more dire conditions.

小时候就住在丰盛园对面路的四方园,睡房窗口旁就是坟墓！晚上都会坐在坟墓前和朋友聊天玩乐！偶尔还会到对对面大坟场里抓萤火虫白天则会去采asam jawa!和腰果！唯一不好的就是同学们都不敢来家里找我！！
Life and death is of different world. We respect the death but being in harmony with graves has no benefit to the alive. The cost of burial has become a burden and money making business. The best example we can learn from Islam perspective where the cost is low and simple. There is another life after death and we should be focusing on that path, for those who believe of course.
